2nd and 3rd period: REACH assessment tomorrow!
8th period: Reading quiz based on yesterday's homework will be tomorrow! You are to read and annotate a part of the Syria background reading. You are responsible from "Guide: Syria Crisis..." and you are to stop when you reach the heading "What is the International Community doing?" Due tomorrow. There may be a quiz based on the reading tomorrow! If you need an electronic copy of the article I am referring to, you can find it here. Today we had a written assessment on the Arab Spring. There is no homework this weekend.
Tomorrow we have a written assessment for the Arab Spring. Please bring ALL of your documents to class tomorrow. Here's the timeline from class Here's another link for a really great resource for the Arab Spring. I have also attached the powerpoint slides from class today. If you haven't done so, you must finish the Arab Spring Map. Below is the timeline you had access to during class. You have a writing assessment/quiz on Friday on the Arab Spring (Ideologies/Social Media). Remember to bring your materials to class that day! All Classes: Read "Arab Spring the new era...." and analyze the political cartoon/answer the questions.
Due tomorrow. If possible, bring colored pencils or pens to class tomorrow. If you didn't finish your annotations in class, they are due in class tomorrow first thing. Read and analyze “Reasons to Seethe” Answer these questions: 1) After looking at the sheet, what overall themes do you see in the Arab Spring? 2) Look at the sheet and make a claim about the Arab Spring. This claim should then be backed up with your evidence and warrant. 3) Does this affect non-Arab countries? Why or why not? Answers these questions in your Notebook for Monday:
1) What is a Revolution? 2) What are the defining characteristics of a Revolution? If you were not in class today, you missed Boot Camp Week 2 quiz and you will have to make this up on Monday. DUE TOMORROW:
Read through your argumentative essay and color code it. You should look for the WARRANT, CLAIM, EVIDENCE, QUALIFICATIONS (why is this relevant) and REBUTTAL. On the paper, have a key so I know what color means what word. Also, if you do not have one of the items above, you must indicate that on your paper and tell me what this would look like if you DID include it.
