If you have not done so, answer these 7 questions based on our reading from yesterday/today. In the electronic copy below, it is page 7 and page 8. 1) Describe a brief history of reform for women in Afghanistan. Identify the reasons why the reforms were not consistent. 2) How does religion factor in the rise of the Taliban? 3) How have gender roles for women changed in Afghanistan? 4) What caused the Taliban to rise in power? 5) How did society change under the strict interpretation of Sharia law? 6) How did women attempt to resist the Taliban’s policies? 7) Global connections: how do the ideologies of the Taliban affect the international community? Please answer these questions in your notebook for tomorrow and study for your final:
1) What is a Revolution and how can they be effective? 2) What types/styles of Revolutions are present in history? 3) Why do revolutions occur? Why are people pushed to change the leadership in power? 4) Can Revolutionaries be defined as terrorists? Is there a difference between a revolution and terrorism? ALL CLASSES-AS OF 8:30PM FRIDAY ALL RESEARCH PAPERS THAT HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED HAVE BEEN GRADED. IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A PASSING GRADE, I HAVE EMAILED YOU. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL. COMPLETED RUBRICS WILL BE PASSED OUT AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS ON TUESDAY. GRADEBOOK IS UPDATED. ALL CLASSES: Complete the Quotations and Observations Activity. For part one Observations: You are to read through Gandhi, King and Chavez's quotations and (for each individual) identify patterns in their quotes... What images, themes, ideas or messages are repeated/used often? For part two Connections: You are to explicitly state 4 connections between these men. This has three parts 1)State what connects them (example: All three talk about happiness) 2) Give text evidence to SHOW the connections (you would select portions of quote from all three in order to show the reader the connections, the choice of quotes must be RELEVANT to what you are saying) 3)Make observations as to WHY they would discuss this (here you would utilize prior knowledge and our documents...if it is about happiness, perhaps all three had tumultuous childhoods which made them want more happiness? Then I would give specific examples to prove this.) On the sheet you were given in class, I give an example. *** If you have a theme/idea that connects to two of the gentlemen, you may just focus on the two... but make sure it is DETAILED! ****YOU MUST CREATE FOUR SEPARATE CONNECTIONS**** if you want to type and print this for Tuesday, that is fine. If you email it to me, it must be in my inbox BEFORE your class on Tuesday. THIS IS A TEST GRADE, SO YOU MUST RETURN IT TO ME ON TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! **BELOW IS THE STUDY GUIDE FOR THE FINAL SEMESTER EXAM. EXAMS WILL BE ON JAN 26TH AND JAN 27TH.
